Andrew and I met 10 years ago on Facebook — a simple friend request that led to occasional likes and messages while he was in Atlanta and I was in Ohio. Seven years later we were both single; Andrew reached out again while I was living in Florida, and his steady messages slowly opened the door to something more. When I moved back to Ohio he kept pursuing me. I told him I wasn’t moving again because of my kids; he said he would move to Ohio without hesitation. I worried we might not have anything in common, and he reminded me we hadn’t really taken the time to get to know each other — so we did. We spent the next few months talking and FaceTiming every night, falling in love from afar. After a missed attempt to meet in Atlanta, we drove to Lexington and finally shared a wonderful weekend together. Three months later Andrew moved to Ohio and into our home. Since then we’ve built a life together: attending Emmanuel Community Church in Canfield, going to games and concerts, planning trips, and dreaming about the future. One year after he moved, Andrew proposed in front of our community and most of my family while we were dressed for Halloween — a moment I’ll never forget. We’ve just had an offer accepted on a house and are busy planning a wedding we hope our friends and family will enjoy. I can’t wait to be Mrs. Andrew Kelly; I feel so lucky that Andrew never gave up on me.
